Pune, 19th November 2011: The 5
th Convocation Ceremony -
UDAAN 2011 of MITCON Institute of Management (MIMA) for the batch 2009-11 concluded on 19th November 2011 with 231 students graduating from various verticals of
MIMA. UDAAN 2011 saw students of Agribusiness Management, Biotechnology Management, Business Administration and Pharmaceutical Management being awarded their respective graduating diplomas. This prosperous ceremony held at MITCON Institute of Management, Balewadi, Pune and had distinguished invitees from the industry and the academic community.
UDAAN 2011, the 5th Convocation Ceremony honored the presence of Chief Guest, Mr. Ashok D. Mahajan, Head, Advisory, SICOM Ltd. who delivered the convocation address.
During the Convocation ceremony awards were given out to deserving students as an appreciation of their hard work and contribution towards achieving their goal. The first and the second rank holders from each vertical were awarded gold medals. 8 gold medals were conferred on the graduating students at the function. 'Student of year' from Business Administration and Pharmaceutical Management were awarded the silver medals and 'Student of year' from Agribusiness Management and Biotechnology Management were awarded the cash awards.
Speaking on the occasion of Convocation Ceremony, Dr. Pradeep Bavdekar, Managing Trustee, MITCON Foundation said, “It’s been more than half decade of MITCON Institute of Management. During this period, MIMA has carved a niche for itself in the field of management education. MIMA is one of it’s kind institute which provides industry specific management education in Biotech, Agribusiness, Pharmaceuticals etc.”

Pharmeet - 2011
"PhARMEET-2011" a National Conference on 'Trends in Pharmaceutical Industry' was held at the MITCON Institute of Management, Pune, on October 8, 2011, and attended by 500 students and academicians.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Management at MITCON had organized this conference to provide a platform for industry academia interaction at a professional level and build awareness among young students.
The symposium was an endeavor to bring together all the stake holders of the pharmaceutical field to contribute their thoughts about the rapidly growing industry. The meet received an overwhelming response from Pharmacy students from 52 colleges in 20+ cities in India.
A total of 56 Papers and 110 Posters were received from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Rajasthan. Judges were academicians from Colleges of Pharmacy. Winners were awarded Trophies along with Cash Prizes with the highest amounting to Rs 5,000.
The Chief Guest was Mr Abhay Joshi, Director Technical, Fresenius Kabi India Pvt Ltd. There were three scientific sessions, each Chaired and Co-chaired by a Principals of Pharmacy colleges and each session was addressed by a Key note speaker from the Industry.
The Chairs and Co-chairs were from the following colleges Sinhagad Institute of Pharmacy, Alard College of Pharmacy, Aalana College of Pharmacy, MIT College of Pharmacy, and AISSMS College of Pharmacy.
The key note speakers from the Pharmaceutical Industry were at the level of Manager, Director and VP in the areas of Contract Organization Quality Assurance, Technology Transfer and International Marketing.

"Biotech Prospects" a seminar for industry and individual stakeholders was organized by MITCON Institute of Management, Pune on 17th September 2011 at their campus at Balewadi. Dr. S. V. Kapre, Executive Director - Serum Institute of India was present as the Chief Guest for the inauguration. Over 500 participants - mostly students and research-academicians from the field of Biotechnology participated in the conference, which received overwhelming response.
Industry expert speakers from several prominent organizations such as Mr. Sandeep Saxena of Acton Biotech, Mr. Abhay Jere of Persistent Systems, Dr. Gururaj Kulkarni of Syngenta India, Mr. Santosh Vyas of Praj Industries, Dr. Narendra Deshmukh of Intox Labs and Mr. Rahul Pawar of Panacea Biotech shared their views and knowledge about the Biotech industry and its future, with the participants.

SPIC MACAY is an organization which promotes Indian classical music and dance and other aspects of Indian culture. It seeks to foster the exchange of traditional values and to generate awareness of the cultural traditions and heritage of India. At MITCON, we had the pleasure of welcoming an accomplished kathak exponent and a noted actor Ms. Sharvari Jamenis.
She holds a diploma in kathak and has performed extensively at various domestic as well as international forums. In her own words, "Dance is a symphony of body and soul.. It is a prayer of harmony with a creative goal".

Saturday, 13th Nov 2010, MITCON Institute of Management hosted the splendid launch of Innovation and operational excellence forum (IOEF) on the 75th meeting of PMI Pune -Deccan India Chapter.
This occasion was graced with the presence of Mr. Pradeep Bhargava Managing Director, Cummins Generator Technologies India Limited, Mr. Dilip Bhonde - a veteran in IT field with more than 25 years of experience, currently having his own consultancy in innovation /and productivity measurement and Mr. Girish Kelkar President of PMI Pune India Deccan Chapter.

VISIT of Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Vidrohi

On 30.11.2010 Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Vidrohi, a veteran trade union activist of Hind Mazdur Sabha and member of Maulana Azad Minorities Finance & Development Corporation, visited the campus of MITCON Institute of Management.
The session was on “CHANGING TRENDS IN TRADE UNIONISM POST GLOBALIZATION”.
About the session:
The session was chaired by, Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Vidrohi (Chief Guest), Dr. Pradeep Bavadekar, Managing Trustee, MITCON Foundation and Dr. Neha Sharma, Director, MITCON Institute of Management. The session started at 11.00 am with the National Anthem, the Chief guest for the session was felicitated by Dr. Pradeep Bavadekar who introduced the chief guest of the session Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Vidrohi, and delivered his welcome speech.
Mr. Vidrohi, in a very eloquent way, gave the perspective of trade unions and the role of managers, pre and post globalization. He also highlighted the issues of trade unions and spoke about the role of trade unions and management in the period before globalization and the changes that have happened after globalization. He also enlightened the students of MITCON Institute of Management on the role of managers in dealing with the people on the floor and the trade unions. Mr. Vidrohi, a thorough orator kept the mood lively on the very serious issue of trade unions and explained the things in a very simple manner to the students.
Prof. Shashank Divekar, proposed the vote of thanks and the session ended on a high note.

Entrepreneurship is the need of the day. The Generation Next is now becoming aware of the importance of being an entrepreneur. As a part of our endeavour to inculcate entrepreneurial skills in our students and prepare them to take the challenges in the competitive world of today, the Entrepreneurship Cell, Uday - The Power Within was launched on 27 November 2010 in association with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).
The E-cell, Uday, aspires to create, foster and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst its students. Through various workshops, competitions and events, it aims to motivate the students to consider entrepreneurship as an excellent career option and help the future entrepreneurs to acquire necessary managerial skills to run their set ups effectively.
E-Waste Management System
A Project by MITCON Institute of Management and IICMR
Introduction
Electronic waste, popularly known as ‘e-waste’ can be defined as electronic equipments / products connects with power plug, batteries which have become obsolete due to advancement in technology, changes in fashion, style and status, nearing the end of their useful life. Electronic waste or e-waste is one of the rapidly growing environmental problems of the world. India as a developing country needs simpler, low cost technology keeping in view of maximum resource recovery in environmental friendly methodologies.
MITCON Institute of Management and IICMR in collaboration with PCMC and Rotary Club has taken up the challenge of studying, analyzing and suggesting a viable solution to fight the monster: E-Waste.
Our Objectives:
- To gather information on E-Waste management and understand its advantages and disadvantages.
- To understand the overall effects of E-Waste on human health and environment.
- To make people aware of the appropriate processes for recycling E-Waste.
Our Deliverables:
- Organize a series of Awareness Talks, Group Discussions and Panel Discussions
- Give a report based on the findings of this study.(Questionnaire )
- Prepare an action plan for the future to take up with PCMC -helping to take it forward.
Medium used for creating awareness about E-Waste:
- Lectures, Group discussions, Panel discussions, Street plays, Workshops and Articles in newspapers.
Scope of the Project:
- Study the E-Waste management system in PCMC area.
- Prepare and submit an action plan to PCMC regarding E-Waste Management.
